Mr. Patel's key asset, based upon his working experience both in large international law firms and as General Counsel, is his ability to provide strategic and legal counseling to all types of businesses (including publishing, e-commerce, life sciences, professional, retail, franchises, hardware, software and internet-based) on a broad range of everyday issues regarding intellectual property (including trademark and copyright registration), employment, real estate, corporate formation/governance, mergers and acquisitions, dissolution, compliance, securities and contracts. Education: Mr. Patel received his Bachelor of Science with distinction in both of his majors, Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry and Psychology, from Yale University, and his Juris Doctorate degree from UCLA, where he served as editor of the prestigious UCLA Law Review and was awarded the Henry and Emma De Garmo Academic Scholarship. Mr. Patel is admitted to practice in California and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Central and Eastern Federal District Courts of California. His publications include the Anti-Circumvention Provisions Of The Digital Millennium Copyright Act, PLI's Seventh Annual Institute for Intellectual Property Law (2001). Experience: Before co-founding The Everest Law Group, APC, Mr. Patel served as General Counsel to The Connors Group, Inc., a publisher and the world's largest site for traders, and Connors Capital, LLC, a private money management firm for institutions and wealthy individuals. Mr. Patel began his legal career at the internationally well-regarded law firms of Arnold & Porter and Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, LLP. As General Counsel, Mr. Patel handled all litigation (Trademark, Copyright And General Business Litigation) personally and in-house, thereby lowering the company's legal costs. His primary responsibilities as General Counsel also included providing legal and strategic advice on Protection of Intellectual Property, Licensing of Intellectual Property, Risk of Infringement, Labor Relations, Customer Dispute Management, Business Development, Corporate Governance, Contract Drafting and Negotiation, Advertising Compliance, Raising Capital and the Formation and Structuring of Corporate Entities for New Business Opportunities. While at Arnold & Porter and Paul Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, Mr. Patel provided strategic and legal counseling (e.g. advising clients on their risk and possible consequences of litigation, on protecting and licensing their Intellectual Property, on their risk of infringing third party intellectual property and on the enforceability of restrictive employment agreements). In addition, he represented clients in General and Intellectual Property litigation (Breach of Contract, Breach of the Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing, Fraud, Unlawful Interference with Business Relations, Patent infringement, Trademark/Trade Dress infringement and dilution, Theft of Domain Name, Unlawful Interference with Stored Communications (hacking), Internet Libel, Copyright infringement, Trade Secret Enforcement and Defense) before the Ninth Circuit, District Courts, Superior Courts and ICANN Panels. Outside of work, Mr. Patel is an avid golf fan and a member of the Woodland Hills Country Club. He is a co-founder of QPals (www.qpals.com) and loves technology and the rising tide of social media.
